The Loft Studios has a teaching faculty of exquisite stature.  They are among the North East's leading practitioners and thinkers in dance, whose combined skills offer students a vibrant and stimulating learning experience of the very highest standard.  By involving practicing artists, we ensure that our dance classes are constantly interrogated and refreshed in order to embrace new movement styles and react to the changing demands of the art form.

Callum Rayment


Callum started Ballroom and Latin dancing at the age of 7 at Carol Hammond’s in Hartlepool.  He competed at national level and became National Champion a number of times. At the age of 13 he started ballet , tap, jazz and commercial dancing.  By the time Callum had left his secondary school, Manor college, he had gained an A* grade in Performing Arts.  He then went onto attended Newcastle College to do a Performing Arts Diploma which he passed with flying colours.  Callum then began a three year course at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom with an awarded scholarship.  In 2015, whilst still at Laine, he played along side Samantha Womack and Stacey Solomon at Milton Keynes Theatre in pantomime.  In 2016 he was in a pantomime at Glasgow’s Kings Theatre with Elaine C Smith.  In 2018, he graduated from Laine and began his professional journey in the performing arts industry starting with a pantomime rendition of Aladdin in Bradford with Christopher Biggins and Simon Webb.

Gemma Dodd

Gemma began dancing at the young age of 4, starting in freestyle, disco, latin and ballroom.  Gemma soon decided she had a love for freestyle and began competing going on to win numerous competitions.  After years of dancing freestyle and disco, she then decided to try other styles such as modern, tap, ballet, commercial and more.   In 2008 Gemma won the coveted title of North East Champion. This gave her the drive and determination to go on to train in London at the prestigious Masters Performing Arts College, where she graduated with a Diploma in Dance and Musical Theatre in 2011. Gemma now shares her knowledge, experience and talent with our students and is a huge asset to the The Loft Studios.

Charli Smith

Charli has always enjoyed singing and dancing from an early age, beginning her study of Performing Arts at Kings Manor School.  Following this, she went on to study for 2 years at Middlesbrough College, gaining her Level 3 in Musical Theatre. After college, Charli went to University and completed a year of training in both modern and contemporary styles.  Charli has also volunteered with Blaze Charity, teaching street dance for 3 years.  In addition to this, Charli has also worked as a singing teacher at AJ’s Academy of Performing Arts and is now training to be a nursery teacher.  Charli does an amazing job of teaching musical theatre to our students and is looking forward to continuing to grow and develop her Musical Theatre classes.

Linzi Campbell-Watt

Linzie trained in professional Musical Theatre at SLP College in Leeds, where she later gained her teaching qualifications in both acting and dance, and then on to Leeds College of Music to train as a singing teacher.  She has worked across the UK as an entertainer before turning her attentions to circus skills, specializing in fire breathing and Burlesque.  Having performed on stages and festivals across the UK and overseas for large brands such as Download Festival, Suicide Girls, Pacha and Cirque, Linzie has developed her own unique brand of Rock ’n’ Roll Burlesque and now teaches this at both The Loft Studios on a Monday, and her own Performing Arts School in Northallerton, with her aim being to empower all the women she teaches!
